Column - The Daily Dose 9/19
Posted by cdunfee1289 on Sep 19, 2008
I have decided to feature a new daily column that covers numerous topics. There are many things I have a strong opinion on and dont have enough on them to make into a whole column, so this is my new solution.
Another feature I wanted to add is you guys emailing me with questions for my to answer in my column. So if you have a question that you want answered, send it in at cdunfee1289@yahoo.com and I will answer it to the best of my ability.
I hope you enjoy my first column and get your fix with today’s dose.
-Jeff Hardy: Real Life Twist of Fate
When is Jeff Hardy going to learn? The guy is quite possibly the most popular wrestler in pro wrestling right now and is extremely over with the fans. WWE is trying to hand him the spotlight and he keeps messing it up. How stupid can you get Jeff, you are way better than this. This situation reminds me a lot to a certain extent to Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry. Chris is an exceptional talent but constantly is in trouble with the law and this has severly hampered his potential to be a star in the NFL. ”The Charismatic Enigma” has a golden opportunity to be on top of the WWE and possibly WWE Champion if he proves he can be depended on. He is constantly letting people in WWE down and it is very hard to commit to him. Jeff, please be smarter than this, if not for yourself, do it for the fans.
-TNA Debut of The Hardcore Legend
Mick Foley made his TNA debut last night. If you call it a debut that is. I was very dissapointed that they waited to the last minute to just show him on screen for just 10 seconds. Jeff Jarrett, Sting, and Kurt Angle delivered a wonderful promo. I think the Foley segment just ruined everything. It hurt the great promo delivered and kind of hurt Foley’s debut. I wasnt a fan of how everything went down last night. Staying on the Foley topic but shifting in another direction, I heard that Foley is going to be an in ring competitor in TNA. I thought he would carry on the same role he had in WWE as an announcer/backstage character but obviously not. The question I want to know, why the hell didnt WWE have him in the ring? I always thought he was retired from in ring competition except for on occasion but I guess I was wrong. I am just dumbfounded that he wasnt an in ring competitor for WWE. He was one of the most popular wrestlers in his time and still was big and for him not to be used inside the ring just has me stumped.
-The Game in The Game
What is this garbage I heard earlier that WWE doesnt want HHH to look weak in any screenshots of the upcoming WWE Smackdown vs. Raw video game. Are they serious? Who the hell are they kidding? Like its an abomination of God or something if HHH is made to look weak. WWE is starting to hit an all time low with stupid crap like this. I sit here and wonder sometimes what in the world goes through people in WWE’s head, specifically Vince McMahon. They cant think f HHH looked weak in a picture of a game, people would think he isnt a top man in the company. Give me a break.
-On the Hot Seat
Rumor has it that Paul Burchill, Paul London, and Chuck Palumbo are in danger of losing their jobs. I think it is a shame. Paul Burchill’s gimmick hasnt really gotten over well with the fans and that may be the biggest reason. He is a pretty good wrestler and I like his in ring work but he just hasnt gotten over. Paul London is a good wrestler and has potential, but he is suffering from his current gimmick and they really dont have much to do with him. I could see him going to TNA if he gets released and try to rechristen himself. I have always been a fan of Chuck Palumbo. He is a big guy that works well as a singles competitor or apart of a tag team. I like Palumbo but havent been too much of a fan of his new biker gimmick. Just like the other two guys, his big problem is getting over with the crowd and he just isnt one that excites the fans. I think he needs someone to carry him in a tag team to help get the crowd into it for him to be successful.
-Montel Vontavious Porter “MVJ” Most Valuable Jobber
Those of you that know me, know that I love Montel Vontavious Porter. I think he is special and one of the best workers in WWE. He has the potential to be thee top heel in the entire company but WWE doesnt have a clue what they are doing. Every week I tune into Smackdown just to see this guy and every week I see the same exact thing. MVP jobbing Friday night after Friday night. Tonight, I watched MVP job to HHH. I can understand that because HHH is the top star in the company but this has been going on since his debut. I mean week after week; Kane, The Undertaker, Matt Hardy, HHH, Batista, Jeff Hardy, and even Shelton Benjamin. Its starting to really annoy me. Nobody is going to take this guy seriously if he gets a WWE Title run if he is constantly looking weak every single week. It is really hurting his growth in the company severly in my eyes. This even went on while he was US Champion, he would just never defend it and job to the main event level wrestlers.

I dont understand why everyone is sh*ting thier pants about jeff hardy. so he got drunk at the airport. am i wrong or doesn’t eveyone drink at the bar that happens to be located inside the airport before they go 30,000 feet up in the air. everyone drinks. he didn’t even cause a scene and was said to be very cooperative. Santino can get a straight up DUI and he gets the IC title back and more TV time. but Jeff Hardy has a drink and everyone is ready to wag their finger like it’s somthing they could never do. if they give him a drug test and he fails thats a different story but last i checked drinking above the age of 21 is A-OK!
Just had to sound of on that real quick otherwise very good post. i agree about MVP.

Hey alex, thanks for commenting buddy, I understand where you are coming from with Jeff Hardy but I mean, at some point you need to take some responsibility for your actions, if this was the first time Jeff has ever had anything happen, it wouldnt be a big deal such as Santino Marella but the fact is that there is constantly something going on with Jeff and Jeff is a huge star that WWE is trying to make a cornerstone of the company and he needs to be be more mature and responsible to take on this role. He is wasting a valuable oppurtunity here and needs to grow up, plain and simple.

You don’t go out and get DRUNK in public… while REPRESENTING WWE. The guy is a celeb….. you can’t do that when KIDS look up to you. It irks me when people say this isn’t a serious deal because it VERY much is. Be responsible and WAIT until you get home from your job to do your partying.

The comment Alex mentions “that everyone one drinks, uh no not everyone drinks, I know that I don’t drink. Of course I all so don’t travel or fly in airplanes but that is beside the point. I can’t speak for others but I know where I stand on that subject. As for Jeff he does need to be serious about his current run in WWE he can’t afford to make any more mistakes.

Enough with the Hardy talk, Hows the column? lol
September 20th, 2008 at 12:27 am
my main point was the Santino Marella thing. if Jeff wasn’t even causing a big enough problem for them to report it. police were not involved so im just saying alot more people in that company have done alot worse. i do understand we are talking about Jeff Hardy so WWE must tread lightly. Im sure Ryan knows more than me so i could sound stupid here but how do we know some airport gaurd with a stick up his a** didnt see Jeff’s green hair and baggy black pants and go hey i wonder what he’s up to, when he just happend to be little intoxicated, profiling happens all the time especially in airports. i realize that’s a stretch but im just playing devils advocate. I agree with everyone saying he should think about what he’s doing, he reps WWE where ever he goes. but It’s not like he pulled a “jake the snake” and started wavin’ his junk around or throwing up. im willing to give Jeff the benifit on this one. he does need to grow up and any one of us here would love to be in jeff’s position in wwe and would take full advantage of it, but for some reason he cant see that.
Good column over-all Dunfee. didnt mean for my rant to over shaddow some good points you made. keep it up.

hey alex, i dont mind, thats the point of my columns to get conversations going and start a little controversy lol, but anyway thanks for kind words, like I was saying about Hardy though, if this was his first time around, it wouldnt be as big like Santino but its always something with him.

You did a good column well done.

Very much enjoy this column, I like the columns that deal with current news stories for the day and/or throughout the week. Much better than Top 10’s and whatever else. Don’t get me wrong, those serve their purpose and are fun to read, but I think these get good conversations going. Also, to comment AGAIN on the Jeff Hardy situation, I just want to say that it’s obvious Jeff Hardy has a bit of a substance abuse problem. I’m sure I’ll get some heat for that, but if need be I can definitely explain. Once again, good column!
